What kinds of things does the Teen Action Team do?

Teens can sign up to serve as a youth representative at community meetings, educate peers about youth mental health, or just sign up for newsletters/text alerts about future opportunities around mental health and well-being. All teens that would like to attend in person events through Teen Action Team must have parent permission.

What can I expect at a meetup?

Teen  Meetups create spaces for teens to engage and connect with peers who are also interested in youth mental health. Attendees plan fun events and other opportunities for teens, gain presentation and leadership skills, and help adults make better decisions about how to support young people.

We are currently only offering meetups for the Treasure Valley region. Check out the Teen Action Teams News below for dates and times.

Can I get community service hours for my  school requirement?

We will work with young people to apply their time spent on Teen Action Team activities to community service  requirements for school or other clubs. Letters of recommendation are also available for teens engaged for an extended period of time.

For Parents and Guardians

Teen Action Team is geared to be an experience that helps give teens a voice and buy-in for actions taken by adults on their behalf. The experience is also designed to promote well-being and positive, authentic connection for all teens that take part.

All Teen Action Team meetings and events are supervised by at least two trained adults.

To ensure age-appropriate experiences and content, participation in meetings, educational opportunities, and events is currently limited to teens in grades 9-12.

Teens that participate in in-person meetings, educational opportunities, and events are required to have a signed parent permission slip.
