Do you know a teen who wants to make a real difference in their community and get paid to do it? The Communities for Youth Teen Action Team (TAT) Summer Internship is returning for Summer 2026, and applications are now open.
Apply here! [Due May 18th]

What is the Teen Action Team Summer Internship?
The TAT Summer Internship is an eight-week paid program designed for Treasure Valley teens ages 14-18 who want to learn, grow, and take action in their local community. Interns work alongside undergraduate, graduate, and professional staff from Communities for Youth, as well as youth-serving organizational partners like the City of Boise and Valley Regional Transit, to co-create spaces, events, and activities that support youth well-being across our community.
Interns will gain real-world experience in building awareness, connection, and leadership in mental well-being and in community advocacy, all while building friendships and skills that will last well beyond the summer.
The Details
The internship runs from June 2 through July 30, 2026, with most sessions held Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. Participants will serve approximately 90 hours during the summer internship.
Upon successful completion, interns receive a $1,000 stipend in the form of two $500 Visa gift cards...Yes, you read that right, getting paid to create change in your community.
What Will Interns Actually Do?
Glad you asked! Over the course of the summer, Teen Action Team interns can expect to:
Explore what upstream prevention and social connection really mean and why they matter.
Receive advocacy training through organizations.
Partner with local businesses to help make Boise and other Treasure Valley communities more youth-friendly.
Participate in community events like Alive After 5 in The Grove Plaza.
Learn public communication and community engagement skills.
Contribute to the Boise Youth Roadmap planning process.
Reflect on who they are, what they value, and how they want to show up for their community.
Plus, there will be team lunches, community building activities, icebreakers, and a Celebration of YOU Day to wrap up the summer right.
Who Should Apply?
This program is a great fit for teens who are curious about their community, passionate about making things better for young people in the Treasure Valley, and ready to put in the work to do it. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to show up, engage, and grow.
The program runs through the summer, so the timing works perfectly for students looking for a meaningful summer experience.
