Blaine Student Well-being Initiative
Blaine County Schools, in partnership with St. Luke's Community Health & Engagement, is calling all partners, parents, families, business leaders, youth, and other community members to join us in working to build the best possible community for our kids. Data collected in November 2023 revealed that roughly ~26% of teens living in Blaine county are struggling with depression symptoms, which is higher than the national average. The good news is we also collected information on what could be causing those elevated numbers. We found that high levels of stress, lack of social connection, and lack of sleep are the major things driving such challenges.
Together, we can do something about that!

What is an Action Team?
An Action Team is a group of folks in a community (including parents, grandparents, small business owners, organizational partners, teens, and other community members) who co-create and execute a plan to address the needs of young people. The action team combines data, real-life experiences, and research in other communities to create real change. And we can start today!
Sleep is so important
Our young people need a lot of sleep. The lack of sleep can greatly contribute to both mental health and academic challenges.
We can help our teens get enough sleep by limiting night time exposure to screens and by keeping a good routine.
