Now Recruiting: Treasure Valley Youth Media Ambassadors

Two teens smile as they sit outside on a sunny day

Communities for Youth (C4Y) is excited to announce the launch of our new Treasure Valley Youth Media Ambassadors program. The Youth Media Ambassador program will recruit up to 6 high-school students from the Treasure Valley region, who will work together and with C4Y staff to create content, manage engagement, and plan promotional activities and events that help additional youth in the Treasure Valley region find and utilize social media accounts and other resources that promote youth mental health and well-being.

Hours and Pay

Youth Media Ambassadors will be paid a $1,100 stipend for completing 100 hours of approved activities during the program, which runs from January to August 2026. The stipend will be paid in two installments, one in April 2026 and one in late August 2026.

Youth Media Ambassador Job Description

Ambassadors will be promoters of youth well-being on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube, as well as via in-person events. Ambassadors will plan, create, manage, and monitor content for these platforms as they work independently and collaboratively to grow the overall youth well-being “brand”, brand presence/recognition, and following among middle/junior high and high school students in Idaho.

Please note, this opportunity is not linked to any kind of for-profit company, brand, or product. Instead, content creation and events will relate to topics including building and maintaining relationships with peers, parents, mentors, and community, and “protective” behaviors like getting enough sleep, regular physical activity, healthy social media habits, stress management and more. There will also be opportunities to connect prevention content to topics like mental health literacy, accessing resources and services for mental health/substance use, and more generally promoting the voices and perspectives of young people into community decision making.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Trainings and Meetings

  • Attend a two-hour onboarding training and introductory meeting.

  • Attend at least four of the six monthly Youth Media Ambassador meetings in “real time” and agree to schedule one-on-one or small group meetings with the supervisor in cases where there is a scheduling conflict for monthly meetings.

    • Monthly meetings will take place virtually and will be scheduled evenings and weekends.

Social Media Growth

  • By April 2026, recruit at least 50 high school or middle/junior high students in Idaho to follow the main content hub on social media (e.g., Instagram page).

  • By August 2026, recruit an additional 25-50 high school or middle/junior high students in Idaho to follow the main content hub on social media (e.g., Instagram page).

Content Creation

Working with their team, ambassadors will create:

  • 3-4 Instagram reels a week.

  • 1-2 static posts or videos a week.

Event Support

  • Assist with planning and staffing pop-up events by:

    • Identifying local business partners to sponsor prizes.

    • Identifying popular local food trucks or catering options and pricing out alternatives.

    • Staffing information/prize table.

    • Facilitating the youth media release process.

    • Generating video and photo content during events.

    • Hosting or shooting tiny mic talks.

    • Facilitating or shooting youth round-table discussions.
