Schools: Learn More About the Idaho Youth Well-being Survey

Communities for Youth is excited to offer the Idaho Youth Well-being Survey (IYWS) for the 2026-2027 school year at no cost to participating schools and districts!

Schools and districts interested in learning more about this opportunity are invited to register for an online webinar hosted by Communities for Youth. The webinar will take place virtually on Friday, April 17, from 11-11:30 AM MDT. It will provide more information about the survey, timelines, expectations, how to register, and the support services offered by Communities for Youth. This webinar is open to schools and districts that have previously participated in the IYWS or are new to this opportunity.

Can’t attend the webinar but still want to know more about the IYWS? Complete the registration link anyway, and we will send you a recording afterwards.

The IYWS measures upstream key risk and protective factors that affect youth well-being and lead to outcomes like substance use, mental/behavioral health issues, or chronic absenteeism. The IYWS is backed by research, designed by local Idahoans, and approved by the Idaho Legislature.

Survey results are provided at the school and district levels for middle and high schools and are always aggregated (no individual data is ever shared). The results can be used to become more effective in program and resource delivery so schools and districts can better serve their students and make their communities the best, healthiest places for kids to grow up. Survey results can also be used to seek additional funding, amend existing programs, or plan new programs, and feel more confident in decision-making about school resources.

All surveys are completely anonymous, and students are allowed to skip any questions they choose. Parent/caregiver consent is required for students to participate. Communities for Youth provides participating schools and districts with support for survey planning, parent opt-in/consent process, and survey administration, as well as complete data analysis and survey results.
