The Communities for Youth Southwest District Health Initiative received statewide attention in May when Marsing Superintendent Norm Stewart, Deputy Director of Communities for Youth Matt Isbell, and Senior Program Officer for the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health Jackie Yarbrough presented on the well-being success in Marsing at the Idaho Health Priorities Conference. The audience came from a variety of areas, including healthcare providers and professionals, researchers, community members, and political representatives. The presentation focused on the past three years of work in Marsing on youth well-being, highlighting the reduction in depression related symptoms among
Marsing students.
In June, a second presentation highlighting the amazing work in Marsing was presented at the Idaho Superintendents Network by Communities for Youth Director Megan Smith.
The work in Marsing emphasizes the importance of youth voice and the power that can be harnessed when bringing together data, community and action.
