Boise Parks and Recreation is continually working on social connection opportunities for the community. Given that recent Boise data found that a lack of social connection is one of the main drivers of depressive symptoms for Boise youth, their current focus is on teens.
However, instead of creating youth programs based solely on Parks and Recreation staff ideas, they want to hear directly from teens! What activities are teens interested in? What barriers are preventing teens from participating? How can Boise Parks and Recreation better align with teen needs?
To answer these questions, Boise Parks and Recreation is hosting Taco-Bout Teens, a free and interactive event aimed at bringing teens and their allies together for a fun evening of conversation, idea-sharing, and, of course, tacos.
What: Taco-Bout Teens – An interactive event where teens and their allies can enjoy tacos while discussing ideas for teen activities in Boise.
Who: Teens in grades 7-12 (ages 12-18), plus allies (anyone who works with teens and wants to understand their interests for out-of-school activities).
When: Thursday, October 3rd, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Where: Fort Boise Community Center, 700 Robbins Rd, Boise, ID 83702
Cost: Free! RSVP by noon on October 2nd to ensure enough tacos for everyone.
