The YouthWell.ID Instagram account, a project of the C4Y Youth Media Ambassadors, is currently running a contest for short video content created by student clubs, classes, and other youth groups (hereafter, “groups”) from across Idaho.
To enter, student/youth groups just need to create a short video using one of the provided prompts and submit by May 22, 2026. Each student/youth group can submit up to 3 total videos for the contest and can also get a fourth entry by helping recruit followers to the YouthWell.ID account. Winners will be randomly chosen from all entries and will receive a $250 gift card for their student/youth group to use as they choose.
Both groups with active Instagram accounts as well as those that do not currently have this kind of presence are invited to participate. Groups must primarily serve high-school aged students in Idaho to be eligible.
Additional Info
Eligible Content
All content submitted as part of this contest must be appropriate for teenage audiences. No references to alcohol, tobacco, or other substances or other illegal activity will be permitted. Please also avoid swearing or inappropriate language or references.
Who Can Enter
Any high school club, class, or activity group or any youth group or youth-focused organizations serving primarily high-school aged students may participate; however participating groups must be located in Idaho. To qualify as a club, class, activity group or youth org, participants must submit the name of an adult advisor or program leader and that individual must certify that their group is allowed to participate.
We particularly encourage clubs and groups that have been actively involved in improving student mental health and well-being (e.g., Hope Squads, Sources of Strength classes, affiliate programs of Bronco Bold and others) to enter this contest, however any youth group club or class is eligible (e.g., student government or student councils, advisory groups, sports teams, FFA, band/orchestra, afterschool clubs or programs, etc.).
If you have questions about eligibility or other aspects of the contest, please do not hesitate to contact Communities for Youth’s (C4Y's) Implementation Director Anne Abbott (anneabbott@boisestate.edu) or C4Y's Youth Engagement Coordinator Heidi Jaerger (heidijaerger@boisestate.edu).
Raffle Process: All groups/clubs/classes that a) filled out the Participation Form, b) created a video with eligible content and submitted their required documentation (Participant List+ Media Releases) will be entered into the drawing for 1 of 3 $250 gift cards.
If a group/club/class submits 2 or 3 videos we will enter that group name into the raffle that many times. If a group helped recruit at least 20 followers to the YouthWell.ID account (see rules below) we will provide 1 additional entry. Please note regardless of the number of entries your group has, you can only “win” once. Winners will be announced May 26th.
Details/How to Participate
Advisors/Teachers/ or Other Leaders Need to Fill Out This Form
Student/ youth groups will need your club or group advisor or a supervising teacher to approve group participation in this contest. This is required because prizes will be awarded to the school or organization, not individual people.
Pick a prompt from the Tiny Mic Prompts list below
For each prompt participants must get at least 4 student responses. If that sounds easy enough–move to Step 3!
Make a Plan! A few things that will help students be successful:
Things to Plan For:
How You Plan to Send Us Your Videos
You can send us raw video files via email or post your finished products on Instagram and “Collaborate” with the YouthWell.ID account when you post.
Capturing Clear Audio and Video
Use an external mic if you have one and decent camera or phone lens
Shoot in natural light or well-lit spaces
Providing List of Participants + Signed Parental Media Releases
This part is not the most fun, but it’s important.
We recommend doing this in something like an Excel Document or a Google Sheet. We have an example here. Create a copy and fill in your group’s name when you send it back to us.
Capture Your Content
Remember Media Releases that have been signed by a parent (for participants under age 18) or the participant themselves (18 or older) are required for all students that participate. Digital signatures are allowed.
Please use this media release form to obtain Media Releases for each participant: https://boisestate.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9T7CKjCGFjuLel0
Organize Everything & Send Your Content to YouthWell.ID and Communities for Youth by May 22.
If you are sending raw video files, please provide a link to a Google Drive or a Dropbox folder. Please ensure all video files are named in a way that makes it clear what goes together. Send all files (including participant list [we will have the record of waivers] to heidijaerger@boisestate.edu.
If you plan to post your contest entries to your club, class, or group Instagram and collaborate with @YouthWell.ID you will need to make sure your group/school/club/organizational account is following @YouthWell.ID before you post and we will follow you back. Please email our Youth Coordinator Heidi (heidjaerger@boisestate.edu) a day before you plan to post so we know you’re ready.
